Collaboration context
IT infrastructure for a new dental clinic
2D Clinic s.r.o. operates as a private dental clinic. When preparing the new healthcare facility, the IT infrastructure had to be built from the ground up so that it was ready for everyday operation of surgeries, reception, administration and other operational parts of the clinic.
The solution included rack installation, firewall configuration, Wi-Fi network installation and configuration, workstation preparation, printer installation, NAS storage configuration and network segmentation. The focus was not only on functionality, but also on security, stability, device availability and operational readiness before the clinic opened.
Initial state
A new clinic where the IT environment had to be built from the ground up
The starting point was a completely new dental clinic where the IT infrastructure was built from the beginning. It was necessary to prepare the network and technical environment for surgeries, reception, administration, printing services, Wi-Fi connectivity, NAS storage and other devices needed for everyday clinic operation.
Because the infrastructure was created before the launch of operations, it was important to design it systematically. The solution had to consider not only the clinic’s current needs, but also secure and transparent operation of individual devices within the network.
- The IT infrastructure was built from the beginning.
- The technical background in the rack had to be prepared.
- A stable local network had to be designed.
- The firewall had to be configured.
- A Wi-Fi network had to be prepared for internal operations and guests.
- Computers had to be prepared for surgeries, reception and administration.
- Printers had to be installed.
- NAS storage had to be configured.
- Individual network parts had to be securely separated according to operational purpose.
Solution goal
Prepare a stable, secure and operationally usable IT environment
The goal was to build a stable, secure and operationally ready IT environment for the new dental clinic. The infrastructure had to support everyday work of healthcare staff, reception and administration while providing a secure foundation for connecting different types of devices.
The solution was designed so that individual parts of the network would not run chaotically in one shared environment, but would be logically separated according to their purpose. Network segmentation, controlled access between devices and secure separation of the internal Wi-Fi network from guest and patient access were especially important.
- Build stable network infrastructure for the new clinic.
- Ensure reliable Wi-Fi connectivity for internal operation and guests.
- Configure the firewall and security rules.
- Segment the network according to device types and operational needs.
- Prepare workstations for surgeries, reception and administration.
- Make printers needed for everyday operation ready for use.
- Configure NAS storage as local data and operational storage.
- Create a technically clear and physically organised rack background.
- Minimise the risk of technical issues during clinic launch.
Solution design
Connecting network, security, Wi-Fi, NAS storage and workplaces
The solution was designed as a complete technical foundation for the new dental clinic. It included local network infrastructure, firewall, Wi-Fi connectivity, network segmentation, NAS storage, workstations, printers and technical background in the rack.
The design focused on the healthcare environment, where stability, device availability, secure separation of different operation types and minimising technical problems during everyday work are important.
The network was designed to support the clinic’s internal operation, guest connectivity, printing services, local storage and other devices needed for the dental workplace.
Implementation process
From technical background to prepared workplaces
Technical background preparation
Preparation of infrastructure for the new clinic, rack installation, network connection design, firewall preparation, network elements and the basic technical environment.
Network, Wi-Fi and segmentation
Configuration of the local network, firewall and Wi-Fi infrastructure for internal operations and guests. This included logical separation of individual device types and operational network parts.
Workplaces, printers and NAS storage
Installation and configuration of workstations for surgeries, reception and administration, printer installation and preparation of NAS storage as the clinic’s local data and operational platform.
What we delivered
Practical preparation of network infrastructure and workplaces
Rack and technical background installation
The implementation included preparation of the clinic’s technical background, including rack installation. The goal was to create a clear and organised place for network and operational elements that form the foundation of the local infrastructure.
The rack was prepared to support safer, clearer and easier-to-manage operation of the clinic’s technical devices.
Firewall configuration
The firewall was configured as an important security element of the local network. Its role was to manage network communication, support separation of individual network parts and create a safer foundation for the clinic’s internal operation.
The configuration was designed with internal workplaces, guest Wi-Fi, printers, NAS storage and other devices needed for the dental clinic in mind.
Wi-Fi network for internal operations and guests
Wi-Fi infrastructure was prepared for the clinic’s internal operation as well as for guests or patients. The solution was designed with an emphasis on connection stability, availability in required spaces and secure separation of different usage types.
Thanks to this, the clinic can use Wi-Fi connectivity for its own operation while also providing visitors with separate access without direct interference with the internal network.
Network segmentation
One of the key parts of the implementation was network segmentation. The network was designed and configured so that individual device types and operational clinic parts were logically separated.
The solution accounted for workstations, printers, Wi-Fi network, NAS storage, medical or device systems and other elements needed for everyday clinic operation.
Network segmentation contributed to higher clarity, better communication control and safer infrastructure operation.
Computer and printer preparation
The implementation included preparation of endpoint equipment for surgeries, reception and administration. Workstations were installed and prepared for use within the clinic’s operation.
Printers needed for everyday staff work were also installed and configured. The goal was for individual workplaces to be ready for a smooth launch without unnecessary technical complications.
NAS storage
NAS storage was installed and configured for the clinic’s needs. It serves as local data storage, file sharing space and an operational data platform for selected clinic needs.
The solution was prepared so that NAS storage is available inside the internal environment according to operational needs and fits into the clinic’s overall network architecture.
Solution security
Secure network operation for a healthcare environment
Security was an important part of the whole infrastructure design. In a healthcare facility, it is necessary to consider not only technology functionality, but also secure separation of individual network parts, controlled access to devices and minimising risks related to unclear network operation.
The implementation mainly covered these areas:
- Secure firewall configuration.
- Separation of internal and guest Wi-Fi networks.
- Network segmentation according to device types and operational needs.
- Controlled access to selected devices and services.
- Safer connection of workstations, printers and NAS storage.
- Reduced risk of uncontrolled communication between network parts.
- Clearer management of local infrastructure.
The solution was designed to support stable and secure everyday clinic operation without publishing sensitive technical details.
